Welcome to Middle School at Parkside
Welcome to the Middle School at Parkside, newly renovated with safe and secure entryways. Principal Krista Jarvey and the rest of the Parkside staff welcome families to visit the school and to become involved. Their
priority is to provide each child with the best education possible. Parkside faculty and staff work with students individually, as well as family members, to ensure that each child meets and exceeds his or her potential.

About Us
The Middle School at Parkside provides a common curriculum with common core standards embedded in all units of instruction. Parkside learners strive to be knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and
reflective. They work to become inquirers, thinkers, communicators and risk-takers. The main goal at Parkside is to build positive relationships with families and to foster students’ academic and social abilities. Parkside’s faculty and staff maintain an environment where teaching and learning are
the primary focus giving students the essential academic skills needed for success.
Parent Involvement
PAVE Group (Parkside Adult Vol-
unteers for Education), Parkside’s PTO group, hosts monthly meetings and invites all family members and staff to
become involved in school activities and more.
Offerings
Parkside has a wide variety of core and encore offerings to meet the needs of all students from high school credits for advanced learners or a double
dose of reading and math for emerging learners. All students have the opportunity to choose a world language of German, Spanish or French for up to
three years, ultimately affording them to earn high school credit in 7th and 8th grade.
Additionally, the encore programs extend its offerings with design, technology, health/physical education, band, choir and orchestra. The Parkside music program has a rich history of excellence,
placing with honors in local and state competitions.
Extra-Curricular Activities
- 6th Grade: JPS continues its partnership with the Jackson County Recreation Department for most sports. Club sports are offered in wrestling, track, softball, baseball and tennis.
- 7th & 8th Grade: Interscholastic sports include
boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, cross country, track, football, swimming, volleyball and wrestling. - Other Activities: Students may participate in a variety of
extracurricular activities including Academic Games, Junior National Honor Society, Student Council, Most Teens Don’t,French Club, Science
Club, Outdoor Adventure Club, Interact Club,
Superintendent Success Challenge, G.S.A.,
Breakthrough 52, and Art
Civilization.

socially and academically throughout the year.
